Casey maintains he did not harm his daughter and that he was innocent of all charges.
Caylee Anthony was reported missing on July 15, 2008, by her grandmother, Cynthia (Cindy) Anthony. Caylee has lived in his grandparents' house with her mother, Casey Anthony, until June 15, 2008. According to George Anthony, Caylee's grandfather, Casey left the family home on June 16, 2008, took Caylee, who is almost 3 months, with him. Cindy asked repeatedly over the months to see Caylee but Casey said he was too busy with work assignments in Tampa. At other times, he said Caylee was with a nanny in the park or beach theme.
Casey Anthony was first arrested on July 16, 2008 and charged the next day by giving a false statement, ignoring the child, and obstruction of criminal investigations. The judge denied the guarantee, said Casey had shown "a sad disregard the welfare of children".
In mid-July 2008, Cindy and George Anthony received notice that their daughter's car was in his backyard. George said an employee at the tow yard and then the police that when he took the car, making the car smell fear that her daughter and grandson could die in the trunk. When the trunk was opened it contained a bag of garbage.
